Workooh On Half Marathon 2024

Today, I want to share with you my incredible journey of self-discovery and personal growth through my recent experience of participating in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon.
Last year, I decided to challenge myself and signed up for the 10K race. As a former college athlete, running has always been a part of my life. However, after graduating, I had let it slip away. Joining the marathon was my way of reigniting that passion and pushing myself beyond my limits.
Completing the 10K race was a moment of triumph for me. Crossing the finish line, I was not only filled with a sense of accomplishment but also reunited with the joy and camaraderie that running brings. Meeting fellow runners and sharing stories of our journey reminded me of the great memories I had from my college days.
Inspired by this experience, I set my sights on a new goal: participating in the Half Marathon in 2024. This would be twice the distance of the 10K race, and I knew it would require dedication, discipline, and perseverance. I meticulously planned a training schedule, committing to running every week, with a goal of completing 52 runs in 2023.
I realized that preparing for a marathon is not just about putting in the miles; it’s also about taking care of oneself holistically. I started paying closer attention to my diet, reducing sugar consumption, and managing my carbohydrate intake. The marathon became a test of determination and endurance, pushing me to overcome challenges no matter the weather conditions – rain or shine, hot or cold.
Interestingly, I discovered that the marathon journey mirrored my career journey in many ways. Just as I had to gear up my physical condition and acquire new skills to excel in running, I realized the importance of continuously improving my professional skills and gaining valuable experience in my role as a Customer Contact Manager. Just like a sprinter trains for a race, I understood the need to plan and train myself for success in my career.
Moreover, participating in the marathon introduced me to a diverse community of individuals who shared a common interest in running. We may have had similar skills and goals, but each of us had our own unique backgrounds and personal agendas that shaped our individual journeys. It was fascinating to connect with like-minded individuals who inspired and motivated me along the way.
In conclusion, the marathon taught me the power of setting goals, planning, and staying committed to achieving them. It taught me the importance of resilience, discipline, and pushing through the challenges. Most importantly, it reminded me that finding my true North, whether in running or in my career, is a journey worth pursuing.
So, my friends, I encourage you to find your passions, set ambitious goals, and embark on your own marathon journeys. Remember, with determination and perseverance, you will reach your destination, and the sense of accomplishment will be truly rewarding.
Feels Good to Move!
